Regional Nature Parks
in Alsace

nature experiences

Between preserved forests, the Vosges mountains and remarkable landscapes, Alsace’s two Regional Nature Parks offer an ideal setting for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers. A chance to slow down, observe and discover authentic territories while experiencing the richness of local biodiversity.

The Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park

> Forests, heritage and nature discoveries

Recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park charms visitors with its vast forests, ponds, pink sandstone landscapes and remarkable heritage.

Its many hiking trails allow visitors to explore a preserved area, dotted with medieval castles, typical villages and places steeped in history. Among the must-see experiences, discovering Fleckenstein Castle offers a unique combination of nature and heritage, in the heart of an exceptional forest environment.

The park can also be explored through guided outings, encounters with local stakeholders and original experiences such as the Alsace Treetop Walk, offering a different perspective on the forest and the landscapes of the Northern Vosges.

The Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park

> spectacular landscapes and encounters with wildlife

From high-altitude meadows to mountain lakes, from mountain forests to traditional valleys, the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park reveals a mountain landscape with many different faces.

With its numerous hiking trails, the park offers exceptional views over the Vosges peaks while allowing visitors to discover preserved natural environments such as peat bogs, mountain pastures and remarkable forests.

Beyond hiking, the area invites visitors to enjoy immersive experiences, including wildlife observation accompanied by nature specialists. At dawn or dusk, setting out to spot chamois becomes a privileged moment to better understand the richness of this mountain ecosystem.

Two preserved territories to experience Alsace differently

Alsace’s Regional Nature Parks embody a new way of travelling:

  • taking time, choosing soft mobility and enjoying meaningful experiences.

Hiking, discovering biodiversity, meeting local people and exploring preserved landscapes offer another way to experience Alsace: a gentler, more nature-focused approach to the destination.
