Alsace is at the crossroads of several motorways:
- The A4 connects Paris to Strasbourg via Reims and Metz (west-east)
- The A36 connects Dijon to Mulhouse via Belfort and Besançon
- The A35 crosses Alsace from north to south, from Germany (via Lauterbourg in the north) to Switzerland (via Saint-Louis in the south)
- On the German side, the A5 motorway runs from Hessen to Basel via Frankfurt, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Offenburg, and Freiburg im Breisgau
